Nobunaga 450 Digest ( 四 )

Here we are with our report about the current celebrations for the 450th Anniversary of Gifu city, that are, as you know, completely Nobu-related.
This season we use Hiroshi Fujioka striking a pose during the parade of the Gifu Nobunaga Matsuri as the "cover" of our fourth report for this year!

So, last time we forgot to mention another "wrapping" dedicated to Gifu's public transportation--
Starting March 6 through November 12, two trains serving the Meitetsu Nagoya Main Line to Chubu International Airport featured a Nobunaga-themed decoration to celebrate the 450th Anniversary of Gifu.

The wrapping features the portraits of a fancy Nobunaga and Nouhime, and the artwork was designed by three students of the Ogaki's Woman College of Gifu.
In case you're interested in catching a glimpse of the "Nobunaga trains", you can check their schedule here!

An event to promote the knowledge and Nobunaga-trivia on the territory, the Nobunaga-ko kara no Chosenjo is a "quiz rally" featuring eight touristic spots of Gifu city.
Visit the spots to get the stamp, answer the questions, and once you're done deliver the completed flyer to one of the selected spots; you will have the chance to take part in a lottery and win mysterious yet fantastic prizes.
The quiz rally started on September 24 and it will be up until November 30.

For the fujoshi out there I can't help to remind you about the Ikemen Sengoku Busho to Meguru: Gifu no Tabi event, dedicated to the otome game for smartphones "Ikemen Sengoku".
The event started on October 4 and it will last until November 30.

Pretty Nobunaga was there to leave (not so) innocent girls in awe, but don't dismiss that as a "sop" for otaku girls, the thing was quite awesome in its organization; consider that three major hotels of Gifu conceded special rooms with privileges and special commodities to the gamers, so to make their sojourn unforgettable.

If you wanna know more about the event and the available hotels, check the dedicated mini-site by Cybird.

A special collaboration between Gifu city and the CBC TV channel resulted in a special drama set in Gifu.
Chichi, Nobunaga was aired on October 7 and it's your typical "time travel" thing with a twist.

Oda Kazuo is your standard salaryman with a frustrating life and an even more frustrating job... One day he fell into the Nagarekawa during a cormorant fishing event, and there a Tenka Fubu seal where the spirit of Nobunaga doesn't really rest in peace slipped in his pocket, making him possesed by Nobunaga himself!
Kazuo was played by Seiichi Tanabe, while Nobunaga was portrayed by Naoto Takanaka.
Here you can find the official page of the project.

And finally we talk about the 61th edition of the Gifu Nobunaga Matsuri, celebrated on October 7 and 8, that this year featured the stunning artwork by Tsuyoshi Nagano on its official chirashi and the special performance of actor Hiroshi Fujioka as Nobunaga during the historical parade!

Fujioka-san became famous as his role as "Kamer Rider" in the 70s but he also had the chance to portray a vigorous Nobunaga during the taiga dramas "Onna Taikoki" (1981) and "Kasugano Tsubone" (1989). His most recent busho role featured Tadakatsu Honda in "Sadamaru" (2016).
It looked like both he and the audience really enjoyed themselves!

Last event of this passionate Autumn in Gifu, your typical Kiku-ningyo Exhibition in Gifu park: from October 21 to November 19, beautiful chrysanthemum will decorate the park area and statues "dressed" in living flowers will depict focal points of Nobunaga life.
This year the theme of the kiku-nyngyo will be "Nobunaga enters Gifu".

--And it's all for today's report, see you again this Winter for updates in our desperate quest to feel closer to the Nobu-celebrations!

  1. But fujoshi are yaoi fans right? I don't think the ikemen samurai would be interesting... unless you ship the samurai together, instead of with yourself LOL

    2. LOL, well... that's true.

By the way, if you want to add, there's actually also another part of the collaboration. If you visit certain hotspots while playing the app, you will receive special bonuses for the game.

I don't remember them all, but you can "catch" Ieyasu at Inaba Jinja and Hideyoshi at Gifu Castle.
